Rake Impact Calculator

How much are you paying the house — and how good do you need to be to beat it?

Updated 2026-04-19

Rake is the silent tax on every session. A $6 cap in a 60-BB pot sounds trivial, but at 30 hands an hour for 10 hours a week, it compounds into real money — and into the win rate you need just to break even.

This tool estimates your hourly rake cost, expresses it as a drag in BB/100, and projects it out over a year. It also tells you whether the cap is actually helping you (pots big enough that rake caps out) or whether you’re paying the full percentage on every flopped pot.

A rough guide to Canadian rake

Room Structure Typical cap
BCLC (Parq, River Rock) 10% $5
GGP Vancouver / Parq 10% $6–$7
Playground (Kahnawake) Time rake ~$6/round
Ontario live rooms 10% $5–$7
US cardrooms 10% $4–$5

The Canadian advantage isn’t the rake — it’s often worse than Las Vegas. The advantage is the games. Check both.

Pots aren't hitting the cap — you're paying the full 10% on every flopped pot. Look for games with larger average pots or lower rake %.
